MINOR HOTELS TAKES OWNERSHIP OF THE GOLDEN DOOR SPA, HUNTER VALLEY

BRISBANE, 30 JULY, 2019 – Minor Hotels is pleased to announce that it has acquired the health and wellness retreat in Pokolbin, NSW, currently operating as the Golden Door Elysia Health Retreat and Spa, after purchasing the business from Lasseters International Holdings.

The property has 74 villas and is renowned for the Golden Door lifestyle and wellbeing programs, and spa treatments at the Elysia spa. Moving forward the property will operate as Elysia Wellness Retreat, named for the famed spa to which it is home, effective from 30th July 2019. In the short term it will very much be business as usual with the continuation of the current accommodation packages, spa services and wellbeing programs offered by Golden Door extending to summer 2020 when additional programs and packages will launch expanding on the existing wellbeing philosophy. Existing bookings will not be affected. Shaun O’Bryan will take on the role of General Manager for the property.

As the owners and operator of Anantara Spa, Avani Spa, Elemis Spa Therapy and Balance Wellness by Anantara, Minor Hotels has extensive expertise in delivery of high-end spa and wellness programs. Their award-winning spas and resorts are directed by a team of wellbeing experts who will guide and develop the program offered at the renamed Elysia Wellness Retreat for its next chapter.

“We are thrilled to acquire the Health and Wellness Retreat, currently operating under Golden Door, as our foray into the thriving wellbeing sector of Australian tourism,” said Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Australia and New Zealand. “Our understanding of holistic retreat programs and insights into the health minded traveller is extensive, having operated leading spas and wellbeing programs in our hotels for many years. We are keen to bring our experience to this 18-acre retreat in New South Wales”, he concluded.

The Elysia Wellness Retreat Spa houses 26 wet and dry treatment rooms, with a wellbeing program that immerses guests in natural surrounds, incorporating a full program of movement activities of varying intensity, mindfulness sessions, health education seminars and empowering workshops. Spa treatments range from facial and skin care to overall body and mindfulness. The existing Golden Door Spa & Health Club in Main Beach, Queensland will continue to be owned and operated by Lasseters International Holdings and will no longer be affiliated with Elysia Wellness Retreat in the Hunter Valley.

Packages at Elysia Wellness Retreat start from $1235 for the 2-day program.
