Whilst at historic Marthaville, take the time to enjoy the ambiance and charm of Cessnock's oldest sawn timber home. Enjoy a stroll in the lovely gardens.

Marthaville was built by George Brown, completed 1886 and named 'Marthaville' after his wife Martha. The twin gabled homestead was the first sawn timber dwelling of the area. George Brown, besides being a builder, saw miller, civil magistrate and shire councillor, was also a successful coal prospector.

Marthaville was handed over to the people of Cessnock as a bicentenary project. Sufficient funds were raised to turn it into a unique Arts and Crafts Centre.
