HUNTER VALLEY BLOG

With more than 150 wineries and cellar doors, 65 restaurants and 180 comfy accommodation places to stay, where do you start?

Follow our insider tips by the people who know best… the locals. We ask talented winemakers, chefs, farmers, brewers and journalists to blog about their favourite places and experiences in this fertile wine region.

TAKEAWAY TIPPLES: SPECIAL COVID-19 DEALS & DELIVERIES

Self-isolating and need a supply of wine? Hunter Valley wineries can come to the rescue offering special deals and super-fast delivery so you can enjoy your favourite tipples while lounging in your trackie dacks in lockdown.

Our winemakers have had a tough year with drought, bushfires and now, for many, temporary closure of their cellar doors to adhere to the latest Government restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings, so it's crucial we support them however we can.

Some have tweaked their business models in the wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic to include home delivery for the first time. Others are offering free delivery and a number are also offering special COVID-19 deals.

Many are still open for pick-up bottle sales (at the time of writing), most are offering home delivery and some are planning live-streaming wine-tastings so you can learn more about the wine you're drinking in the comfort of your home.

FaceTime wine o'clock has taken off with my friends as Group Facetime calls on Friday arvo replace the usual one-on-one catchups. It's already causing some wine envy though as usually we all get to taste the wines we bring, whereas some cheeky peeps are opening cracking wines the rest of us are drooling to try. Guess it's just another reason to order more blockbuster Hunter drops.

If you don't already follow your favourite wineries on social media, jump on now and keep up to date with their virtual events and special deals. In the meantime, here's a short list of local producers where you can order wine to go. We'll be adding to it as we receive updates from wineries.

Stay safe. Stay home. Stay hydrated with Hunter Valley wine.
