MEDIA RELEASE: Hunter Valley Heritage Tasting & Dinner

he Hunter Valley is where Australian wine began, and where some of the country’s most remarkable old vines continue to produce wines of exceptional character, provenance and sense of place.

Across the region, 56 vineyards are recognised as Heritage Vineyards, each more than 50 years old and planted on original rootstocks. Some date back to 1867, with 14 vineyards now more than a century old.

These vineyards are living pieces of Australian wine history. Many are still hand-tended and bottled as single-vineyard wines, offering a rare expression of site, season and generations of knowledge passed from one custodian to the next.

On 27 October 2026, as part of NSW Wine Month, the Hunter Valley will bring these historic vineyards to Lana at the historic Hinchcliff House in Sydney for a landmark event.

For the first time in Australia, this event will bring together wines united by the age and heritage of the vineyards from which they come.

Seventeen Hunter Valley producers will present single-vineyard wines from some of the region’s most significant old-vine sites, creating a rare opportunity to taste these wines side by side and explore the differences in vineyard, variety, vintage and winemaking.

Guests will hear directly from the winemakers and custodians behind these vineyards, discovering the stories of the sites, the families who have cared for them and the wines they continue to produce today.

For one day, some of the Hunter Valley’s most important vineyards, their wines and the people who know them best will come together in one room.
