Top Halliday rated Semillon to enjoy over the summer season

“Semillon is the variety that defines the region, and rightly so. Hunter Valley Semillon is one of the world's iconic varietal and regional synergies, refreshing and cleansing when young, and multi-layered, complex and beguiling with age.” Toni Paterson MW

Hunter Valley Semillon is often regarded as Hunter Valley's unique gift to the wine world. It has lemon and lime flavours, citrusy crispness and a natural, lively acid. It can be enjoyed soon after bottling, or you can take advantage of its wonderful ageing potential, capable of ageing gracefully for well over 20 years. With age you get honeyed flavours and some toasty notes. Still delicious, but very different to its crisp youth.

This year has been another exceptional year for our Semillon, with 43 Hunter Valley Semillons being awarded 95 points and above by Halliday.

Whether you are looking for something extra special, or simply want an easy and refreshing drink poolside this summer, it doesn’t get much better than a glass of Hunter Valley Semillon. For pairing, think seafood dishes that include white-fleshed fish, prawns, crab and lobster. Its complement to seafood makes this wine the perfect pour for your summer gatherings.

“The Hunter Valley wine region punches well above its weight, with a cluster of supremely talented winemakers who have access to incredible vineyards. It's no surprise that it's home to some of Australia's best wines.” Toni Paterson MW
