Hunter Valley Wine Country has only had minor damage in the floods that severely affected the Hunter Region. Access to Hunter Valley Wine Country has not been compromised and businesses are operating as usual. The rain has greened the valley and filled our dams ready for next year's harvest.

Annual Weather Cycle
Hunter Valley Wine Country's weather has been described as quite mild for the majority of the year, the winemakers love the Summer rains in November and December and hope it stays fine during the Vintage. They will constantly measure their baume levels, which ensures the flavour of their wines remains top quality. Too much rain can cause mould on the foliage and rain near harvest can mean the grapes can be ruined. The winemakers keep a close eye on their livelihoods and take the appropriate precautions.

As the summer rolls on and Autumn days draw closer the vines turn a warm orange-red hue and start dropping off the vines. By now most of the grapes are picked and the vintage is over for another year, the winemakers start to process the wines and store in Oak barrels or stainless steel vats.

Winter in Wine Country is perfect for wine tasting and traveling around to see something new. The cooler weather makes it perfect for sampling some of the Hunters finest wines and cuisine, as well as a range of olives, cheeses and other gourmet delights.

Spring sees the valley come to life and is a particularly picturesque time in the area with temperatures in the early 20's, it is a great time to visit. The good weather lends itself to major outdoor events such as the Jazz in the Vines and Opera in the Vineyards. In the winery the winemakers are cleaning out their barrels, vats and equipment and preparing for the next vintage.
