Lavender Gate Farm

Three varieties of lavender are grown at Lavender Gate Farm for harvesting purposes:

Lavandula Dentata 'Candicans'
   grown for fresh  flowers.

Lavandula x Intermedia 'Miss Donnington'
   grown for  fresh, dried and 'stripped' flowers.
   It is also a suitable cultivar for essential oil production.

Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso' 
   grown for dried flower production.

The varieties were selected for their high yield, hardiness, scent, colour and oil content. As lavender is highly drought tolerant and is most suited to arid, dry climates The Hunter Valley was chosen specifically for it's low rain fall levels, soil and overall climate.

The Gate Cafe and Gift Shop offer the perfect place to relax after a visit to The Gate Gallery & Sculpture Garden. Organic coffee and homemade cakes are available from 10.00 am. Wine by the glass, or bottle, from local Wollombi wineries, matched with a sumptuous regional cheese plate make a delightful lunch. Pamper yourself with a range of locally made lavender products, available from the gift shop. The perfect memento of your visit.
