Hunter Valley shines as “Australia’s best food and wine region”

The Hunter Valley has today been chosen as Australia’s best food & wine region in the 2014 Gold List Awards, the only awards especially for the luxury sector in Australia.

This is the tenth year that thousands of Luxury Travel Magazine readers have participated in this nationwide survey.

The announcement came during a four-hour social media event on the day of publication of the magazine.

Gus Maher, General Manager of The Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association says, “We are extremely honoured and excited by the award, which re-affirms that the Hunter Valley is the premier wine & food destination not only in New South Wales, but in all of Australia.”

Last year, tweets from the Gold List social media event reached 126,000 twitter accounts and was the highest trending event on twitter that day, such was the reader and industry interest in the results.

The Hunter Valley is only two hours from Sydney and boasts in excess of 100 wineries and cellar doors and more than 60 quality restaurants and cafes.

Preparations are underway for the ultimate Hunter Valley wine & food experience, Hunter Valley Wine & Food Month, which takes place each year June. For more information, or to view the calendar of events, visit www.winecountry.com.au
