CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SPECTACULAR RAISES OVER $17,000 FOR LOCAL CHARITIES!
Christmas Lights Spectacular at the Hunter Valley Gardens successfully spread the Christmas cheer by raising over $17,000 for local charities. This year’s event saw record numbers through the door each night, up over 100,000 people, beating last years impressive results.
Saturday, 14th of January, saw the final night of the Lights display. And thanks to the kind hearts of all attendees, much needed funds were raised for Samaritans, Relay For Life, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Cessnock Lions Club, Cessnock Rotary Club and Australia Citizens Radio Emergency Monitors (ACREM) throughout the event.
Mr. Kyle McKendry, General Manager said, “It’s fantastic to end the event on such a high note! I would like to thank the generosity of all those who donated. It will certainly make for a great start for each charity in 2012.”
Due to the success of Christmas Lights Spectacular 2010, Hunter Valley Gardens kept doors open for 65 days, the longest in Christmas Lights history.
People from all over the country travelled to Hunter Valley Gardens to check out the well renowned annual event. With over 1 million individual light globes, and over 200 kilometres of string lights, it’s easy to understand why so many people did not want to miss out.
“To date we have invested $400,000 in the event. The Gardens are committed to a five year plan which will ensure amazing new light displays year in year out for the next five years. Our aim is to have people coming back each year to check out the wonderful new displays,” said Mr. McKendry.
Hunter Valley Gardens are looking forward to another jam packed year, and rolling out their 2012 events. Some early highlights include the Australian Outback themed School Holidays from the 7th of January until the 22nd of January, and the always majestic Wedding Open Day, which will be held on the 29th of January, 2012.
