The newest addition to the Hunter Valley to open on December 7 2011……

Wynwood Estate purchased the old Golden Grape cellar door earlier this year; the new wine brand is now ready to open its doors to the public with promise of great things in the future.

The vineyard once owned by Saxonvale wines was known as one of the best in the Hunter Valley. Wynwood Estate’s management team have begun to restore the vineyard to again produce top quality fruit from these grand old vines.  Lance Mikisch (5th generation vigneron) our vineyard manager is excited about the prospect of nurturing the old vines back to their best. And the results will show in the wine quality.

Under the Wynwood label we will produce super premium Hunter Valley Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay, gaining the high reputation of the old Saxonvale days. While under the second label Grey Gum we will be making more fruit driven, user friendly wines to suit a range of markets.

There is nothing more challenging than to get yet another wine brand up and running, using the resources of experienced local management combined with an award winning winemaker and vineyard. This is one brand to watch!!

The Wynwood cellar door has been refurbished to reflect the quality image of the new brand; in addition there will be a restaurant opening on site mid-2012.
