‘Somewhere Unique’ wins Gold

An eco-certified accommodation business located in picturesque Wollombi in the NSW Hunter Valley was recognised at the recent 2011 National Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence, announced Melanie Morschel, owner of ‘Somewhere Unique’. The business was the Winner of the ‘Self Contained 4.5 Star / Luxury Accommodation’ category.

‘Somewhere Unique’ offers two contemporary architect-designed retreats, strategically placed to ensure privacy for each couple, and are proud to have achieved Ecotourism Accreditation. Properties are judged in equal parts by a written submission and a mystery guest assessment. The National Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence are one of the only annual accommodation awards to incorporate a true mystery guest component in their judging process. “The businesses who won these awards overcame many worthy finalists and their success is a tribute to their commitment to excellence in every facet of what they do, and to the tourism industry in the Hunter Valley”, concluded Lorraine Duffy.

The Hunter Valley is located only two hours from Sydney, and offers a range of activities including: wine tasting, horse riding, hot air ballooning, art galleries, and sampling regional produce.
