An Organic Debut for First Creek Wines

First Creek are excited to release two new organic wines into their portfolio, aptly named Bianco Puro (pure white) and Rosso Puro (pure red) reflecting purely organic fruit used to make this unique white and red pair, selected from the largest organic vineyard in the Hunter Valley.

Managing Director of First Creek, Greg Silkman says "Our interest in producing organic wines has followed from First Creek's winemaking philosophy of low chemical input and minimal intervention in the winemaking process". This philospohy was recently recognised with the winery earning the status of Australian Certified Organic.

In creating blends, winemaker Liz Jackson suggests, "varieties for the organic wines were chosen for their ability to best withstand Hunter growing conditions without the need for protective non-organic chemicals.

Bianco Puro is a blend of Verdelho, Chardonnay and Semillon. Verdelho and Chardonnay were used for fruit weight and flavour whilst the backbone of the blend is held together wtih the steely spine of Semillon. Rosso Puro is a blend of three red varieties. Chambourcin's high acidity provides inherent natural preservative characters for the wine and its thick skin is well suited to organic farming and clean deeply coloured reds. The Shiraz and Merlot grapes provide fresh fruit flavours, complexity and soften the overall blend.

RRP: $25
