Entertaining the Kids

Contrary to what some belive, there are plenty of activities to keep children occupied in the Hunter Valley. See below a list of activities to keep the kids occupied:

Hunter Valley Cheese Company – at 11am every day, the Hunter Valley Cheese Company conducts a cheese educational tour. This is an informal tour that takes you through the process of how cheese is made & you can also see where it is stored & taste the product that you have just learnt about at the end.

Hunter Valley Gardens – With over 60 acres of spectacular garden displays including 10 international feature gardens, the kids will have plenty to keep them occupied. Always a favourite with children, the Storybook Garden features statues & scenarios from all their favourite nursery rhymes & stories.

Hunter Valley Gardens Village – Adjacent to the Hunter Valley Gardens is where you will find the Hunter Valley Gardens Village. This village is packed with indulgent & creative shops, casual cafes & a large playground for children to exert their energy after lunch!

Hunter Valley Horse Riding & Adventures – Catering for the beginner to the experienced rider, there are options for everyone. Pony rides, Trail Rides, Sunset Rides & family rides are available over the picturesque Molly Morgan Ranges.

Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop – not only is there lots of cheese to taste & look at, there is a beautiful gelato bar that kids will be in awe of & if you are lucky have a few tastings.

Hunter Valley Zoo – small but interactive zoo that will keep the kids occupied for hours. They have plenty of exotic & native Australian animals, some of which you can feed & pet at certain times during the day. They also have BBQ facilities & picnic spots so you can make a day of it.

Moorebank Private Vineyard – Moorebank has plenty of jams, sauces, chutneys & tapenades to taste all made from local produce. Also to involve the children while you are wine tasting, they can try Moorebank’s Homemade Lemonade Syrup. Don’t forget to say Hello to their resident pet sheet, Sheila as well!

Richmond Vale Railway Museum – Open the first Sunday of every month, Richmond Vale Railway Museum is a small museum preserving the railway & mining heritage of the Hunter Valley. Steam train rides are free after admission

Tinkler’s Produce – introduce the kids to a real working fruit & vegetable farm. They can taste the products of what is grown through jams, sauces & chutneys or take home some fresh produce for later.
